Do you have a favorite book? Maybe a book that became your friend the day you returned to unfold its pages for the second time? Perhaps, inside those pages you have ridden the wind, walked with giants, wept with familiarity, or laughed yourself silly. Whatever the reason, that faithful friend named 'Book' marks a place in your heart as well as on the bookshelf.
This year, we have the option to make friends with a another book. This book is called Opportunity. Edith Lovejoy Pierce phrased this very thought, "We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day."
The wonderful thing about Opportunity is that we share the same title, but our pages will be written differently. Some may choose the opportunity to tell friends or family how much they mean to them. Others may find the Opportunity to write a happy ending to someone's day. Opportunity often disguises itself in common occurrences or occasions that we need to take hold of and make them great.
In your book called Opportunity, what will you write on its pages?
